DOT Hazmat: Security Awareness
This course is the DOT Hazmat: Security Awareness training that is part of the core curriculum for DOT Hazmat transportation training. In the wake of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, the Department of Transportation has made Security Awareness part of General Awareness training.
This training is also available as part of DOT Hazmat Basic General Awareness Training (4 Hour) and DOT Hazmat Advanced General Awareness Training (10 Hour). All workers involved in the transportation, manufacture, or use of hazardous materials should receive this training. |
DOT Hazmat: Hazard Classes and DivisionsThis DOT Hazmat: Function Specific - Hazard Classes and Divisions course will familiarize students with each of the 9 DOT classes and their divisions.
These classes are used in the Hazardous Materials Table to identify the types of hazards a material presents. The class of a hazardous material can determine a number of things, including how a material is handled, packaged, stored, and transported. It is important to understand that some hazardous materials fit into more than one class, which can alter their handling and packaging needs. |
DOT Hazmat: Function Specific - LabelingThis DOT Hazmat: Function Specific - Labeling course was developed to help you properly identify hazardous materials based on their label, select appropriate labels according to the hazards of the material being shipped, and complete labels that require entries. This course expands upon the knowledge of labels and labeling received as part of Basic General Awareness and is included in Advanced General Awareness training.
Workers involved in the transportation, manufacture, or use of hazardous materials who require more than basic knowledge of labels should receive this training. |

This includes, but is not limited to, Hazmat Employers involved in the carrying, shipment, or manufacture of hazardous materials.

The HMT is a reference that will allow you to determine packaging, labeling, and many other special requirements for hazardous materials you may be transporting or offering for transport. It also provides restrictions and redirects you to sections in 49 CFR 172 when additional details on the material you are shipping are required to transport the material safely. |

This can include, but is not limited to, workers who package materials for shipment, and load and unload hazardous materials for shipment.
